Walking on Water

On April 16th, I submitted my official resignation letter to my boss. My last day of work at North Lake College is April 30th. For the past twenty years, I have crafted a serial entrepreneur existence inside companies or institutions. In 2018, more than twenty-years after I started my first business, I’ve decided to make my business my priority.

I loosely use the phrase ‘I decided’. It’s more like I prayed for GOD to close every door that was NOT His perfect will. And, He did! In the past 12 months, I’ve interviewed with three different presidents at community colleges. This means that I got to the final round. My skill set and knowledge fit the need but ultimately I didn’t fit the culture, or perhaps someone else was a better fit. Regardless, I was not the chosen one.

I prayed that GOD would open the door that he wanted me to walk through. This one eeked open in 60 days. Initially starting with a seed from my sister about her desire to change careers and her willingness to pull out her pension to make it happen. I had never considered that as an option. Followed by a conversation with a mentor, a woman I consider one of my Neomi’s, about a need for an assistant and help with marketing. As she processed, I was wondering who could help her out. Concluding with my hubby moving from, ‘No! No need to discuss it’ to ‘I don’t want to talk about it right now’ to ‘I’m not comfortable with all of the risks but Alright’.

So, on April 16th, I stepped out the boat. Truth is it was a mirage of security anyway. Now, I’m walking on water 365 days of the year, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I can’t wait to reflect on how this will build my faith and change my family.

‘Trust’ – GOD
