The Holistic Narrative Vision: Scripting the Four Pillars
Step 1: Ground and Connect (Heart-Opening)
Begin by sitting in stillness. Place your focus on your chest, breathing into the heart space until you settle in. When you are settled in, you’ll feel a sense of “being” rather than “doing.” Then ask: “If I were completely at peace with who I am, what would my world look like, smell like, sound like, feel like?” This ensures that your vision is rooted in authentic joy, not ego or competition.
Step 2: The Third-Person Shift
Refer to your future self by name or as “he/she/they.” This allows you to act as a loving observer. It removes the “I can’t do that” voice and replaces it with the “Look at what they are doing” voice. By writing in the third person, we utilize the visualization techniques Mel Robbins highlights—tricking our nervous system into believing this future is already a memory.”
Step 3: Expanding the Spheres of Being
Build the world by describing four specific areas in vivid detail:
I. Personal Health & Well-Being
Instead of listing a target weight or a gym schedule, describe your (aka the protagonist’s) vitality.
- The Vision: Describe how the protagonist feels when they wake up—the elasticity in their muscles, the clarity in their mind, and the absence of chronic tension. They might describe the protagonist enjoying a meal, emphasizing the nourishment and the relationship between their body and the fuel they provide it.
II. Key Relationships
Describe the quality of connection rather than just the people involved.
- The Vision: Observe a scene of interaction. Perhaps the protagonist is sitting across from a partner or friend, engaged in a conversation where both parties feel deeply heard. Describe the presence, the eye contact, and the feeling of safety and belonging that permeates the protagonist’s social circle.
III. Money & Finances
Now shift the focus from “accumulation” to “flow and freedom.”
- The Vision: Describe the protagonist’s relationship with money. The protagonist may open a bank statement and feel a sense of calm and “enough-ness.” Or, the protagonist may read an email stating that a deposit has been made to an account. Describe the freedom the protagonist has to give generously, to invest in experiences, and to live without the “villain” of financial anxiety.
IV. Fun & Play
Treat fun as a non-negotiable necessity.
- The Vision: Describe the protagonist in a moment of pure, unselfconscious play. Whether it’s a hobby, travel, or spontaneous laughter, paint a picture of a life that is not just productive, but deeply enjoyed. Describe the protagonist’s “spark”—the light in their eyes when they are doing something purely for the joy of it.
Why This Approach Works
| Sphere | The Benefit of Third-Person Writing |
| Health | Allows you, the writer, to describe the protagonist with “body neutrality” and appreciation, bypassing current insecurities. |
| Relationships | Helps you, the writer, visualize the standard of treatment the protagonist deserves from others. |
| Finances | Decouples the protagonist’s worth from their bank balance, focusing instead on the utility and peace money provides. |
| Fun | Legitimizes play. When we see a character we love having fun, we want that for them; the third person makes it okay to want it for ourselves. |
Step 4: Integrating the Day
Finally, the writer weaves these spheres into a single narrative flow. They describe the protagonist moving from a morning of well-being, into a day of purposeful work/finances, followed by an evening of connection and play.
This creates a “Life Symphony” where no one sphere is neglected at the expense of another.

Think of your name and what you crave for your health, your inner circle, your finances, and your joy. If you were to synthesize these into a powerful, 300-word Narrative Vision—one that moves beyond dry goals and into a lived reality—what would it say?
The Next Step: Aligning Your Story with Your Value
Writing the story is the first step in reclaiming your future. The second step is ensuring that the way you “show up” in the world—your personal value—is aligned with that new narrative.
To help you bridge the gap between the vision in your heart and the value you provide to the world, I highly recommend this as your next move:
